After conducting a review of the rice harvest and having a dialogue with farmers in Indramayu, Wednesday (21/04/2021), the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) continued his working visit by reviewing the development of the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone, in Ketanggan Village, Gringsing District, Batang Regency, Central Java.
"This is an industrial area in Batang, which will be built on an area of 4,300 hectares. Now, 450 hectares of land have been prepared and will be used for investments, especially those related to technology, "said the President after the review.
This visit, said the Head of State, was carried out to check the readiness of the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone, which in May will be groundbreaking for the glass industry.
"Maybe it will be the largest glass industry in Southeast Asia. And after that there is also another precursor, cathode industry which will also begin construction in June or July, God willing and so on, "he said.
The President conveyed that this industrial area will be used as a pilot for the development of industrial estates in other regions.
"I will regularly check this industrial area in Batang, because this is indeed a very large area which has very good competitiveness. This is what we will make as an example for other industrial areas in the provinces, both in Java and outside Java, "said the Head of State.
In his press statement, the President also revealed that he had ordered the management of the PTPN board of directors, as well as the management of Grand Batang City to immediately complete the construction of the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone in order to create jobs.
"We hope that this will absorb as many workers as possible, provide as many job opportunities as possible, as widely as possible, and there is also an inflow of capital, there is capital inflow to our country which will be able to drive our national economic growth," he concluded.
